member since July 25th,2005 paintings by Jean Brown curriculum vitae: Jean Brown was born in Cambridgeshire/England in 1944. She became interested in painting and drawing from early age and later discovered an interest in modeling and sculpture. She attended St. Johns Wood School of Art (1982-1984), Sir John Cass School of Fine Art in Whitechapel/London (1984-1988), where she specialised in sculpture with a particular interest in bronze and continued with a further two years of study (1988-1990) in techniques of foundry work. This was followed by a further course at St. Martins School of Art/London, during which time she studied drawing and anatomy. She was also sponsored by the Worshipful Body of Foundry Workers and continued with a course in ceramic shell casting, a process which enabled her to develop her own foundry and cast on her work, when she finally moved to Algarve/Portugal in 1994. Her bronzes are mainly figurative with a strong accent on movement with an insight into mood and body language. The influence of the rural Algarve, the local people, their habitual mannerisms and everyday activities have been a strong source of inspiration.
